Write your own fairytale

Growing up we watched Disney movies like Cinderella, & Snow White, believing that maybe, one day, we will end up happily ever after with our very own, Prince Charming. I’m not saying that your own version of a modern day Prince Charming won’t show up and sweep you off your feet, all I’m saying is some women have obscene standards of how a man should do so. Love does not begin when your fairy god mother twirls her wand and sends you to the ball…love begins when you allow yourself to be comfortable enough with someone and let yourself fall knowing they will catch you on the other end.

One look & it’s love & you’re destined to be married? I think not, one look and you want to bone…be real. From there, might come love…but love does not happen the way we witnessed in those Disney movies. When you meet someone, know the reality of the situation and don’t get lost in the idea of the fairytale.

To be honest, who wants the glass slipper anyway? Glass is transparent. It will show off all your cuts & bunions, it will show off any scratches and smudges, AND glass does not breathe. So go get your self a fly pair of Christian Louboutin heels, a pedicure, & enjoy your own story to love.

Christina Ruiz, Founder of TopShelf Boutique, has been a style staple in SF since before you were gangster. After graduating from FIDM, she spent years slangin’ dranks at some of the most unique bars in The City, networking, and developing a keen eye for what’s really hot. This Saturday marks the beginning of the next episode for Ruiz, as she takes Top Shelf to the streets! I was lucky enough to catch up with this hot little boss before her debut and find out more about the ups and downs of young entrepreneurship.

It has no doubt been a long road for Christina. In 2010 she took a 3 month course to build a proper business plan. She started stacking loot and scouting locations constantly. But nothing ever seemed quite right. The spaces were pricey and the competition was stiff. She wished there was a way to open a store without the dauntingly high overhead. With the food truck phenomenon in full effect, the idea for a fashion truck was born!

After deciding to open TopShelf mobile boutique, Ruiz started doing research on others who were doing the same. That’s how she found ‘Le Fashion Truck’, LA’s first mobile boutique. “They have inspired, mentored, and supported me along the way,” she ways. (Awesome.) Ruiz also finds inspiration in anyone “who thinks outside the box, people who are risk-takers, dreamers, travelers, and hustlaz.” And most of all, in the memory of her father.

TopShelf will feature up and coming designers, targeting those who prefer unique, affordable style to name brands. (Shewolves.) Christina’s final word on starting a business: “Don’t wait for your dream to become a reality. Go out there and make it happen.”  Friends and Family opening party this Saturday 4.28.12.at Bloodhound.  Peep her stylings in the Bianca Starr Spring Fashion Show at The Clift 5.3.12. Follow her on Twitter @topshelfstyle! WE LOVE YOU XXXTINA! GO GIT IT GURL! xoxo SheWolfNation
